Guide 01

How This Book Was Developed

Use this guide before discussing the claims of an AI supported book. The goal is to understand the chain of contribution without collapsing authorship into either a purely human or purely automated act.

Prepare

1. Identify the originating material: spoken exposition, memory, testimony, notes, research, Scripture, teaching, or a prior manuscript.
2. Record what AI helped do: transcription, organization, expansion, comparison, drafting, editing, visual generation, or formatting.
3. Locate the author’s review statement and any edition history.
4. Choose one passage whose accuracy or voice can be compared with its stated source.

Facilitate

1. Let the group name only observable contributions first.
2. Distinguish voice from wording: a system may draft a sentence while the author supplies the story, judgment, and final approval.
3. Identify any place where the disclosure is incomplete or overly broad.
4. Write a one paragraph provenance statement that a future reader could understand.

Scripture Examination

This practice returns every biblical claim to the passage itself. It preserves the distinction among what the text reports, what a reader infers, what a tradition teaches, and what a community applies.

Seven movements

1. Locate: write the exact reference and identify the literary setting.
2. Observe: list persons, actions, images, sequence, repeated language, and stated interpretation.
3. Contextualize: read what precedes and follows the selected passage.
4. Compare: identify related passages without assuming that similar symbols always mean the same thing.
5. Distinguish: label direct statement, reasonable inference, theological tradition, imaginative possibility, and present application.
6. Test: identify evidence that supports or challenges the proposed interpretation.
7. Record: state what the group can affirm, what remains uncertain, and what requires further study.

Theological Discernment

Theology is examined through more than rapid agreement or disagreement. This guide makes room for Scripture, worship, reasoning, tradition, testimony, silence, and communal accountability.

The discernment rhythm

1. Read it: identify the claim in its full paragraph and biblical context.
2. Speak it: hear how the claim sounds when stated plainly.
3. Sing through it: notice whether worship exposes distortion, exaggeration, fear, or beauty.
4. Pray through it: ask for wisdom without treating inner impression as automatic proof.
5. Discuss it: invite more than one Christian tradition and lived perspective.
6. Study it: examine relevant passages, language, history, and reputable scholarship.
7. Test its fruit: consider whether the teaching cultivates truth, love, humility, freedom, responsibility, and faithfulness.
8. Document it: record the conclusion and the limits of confidence.

Guide 04

AI Accuracy Review

A fluent sentence can make an unsupported claim feel settled. This guide slows the reader down long enough to inspect the evidence behind the language.

Accuracy pass

1. Underline every name, date, quotation, number, citation, historical detail, and causal statement.
2. Confirm that every source exists and actually supports the nearby claim.
3. Look for merged events, invented chronology, generalized personal details, and words the source never used.
4. Separate a missing fact from a false fact; they require different corrections.
5. Check whether certainty matches the evidence.
6. Inspect images for false lettering, anachronism, misleading symbolism, and implied factuality.
7. Record the correction before revising so the editorial history remains intelligible.

AI in the Church

Use this assessment before a church, ministry, teacher, or creative team adopts an AI supported practice.

Decision categories

• Proceed: low risk, clear purpose, responsible human review, and proportionate disclosure.
• Proceed with safeguards: useful practice requiring written limits, review, consent, or privacy controls.
• Pilot and evaluate: promising practice whose effects on trust and ministry quality are still uncertain.
• Do not use: the use would displace essential human judgment, expose sensitive information, fabricate authority, or create unacceptable risk.

If every person affected knew exactly how this was made, would the ministry still consider the use faithful and trustworthy?

Community Discernment Circle

This 60 to 90 minute format turns individual reactions into a respectful, traceable group process.

Facilitator safeguards

• Do not elevate technological fluency, ministry title, or strong conviction above evidence and Scripture.
• Do not pressure participants to disclose private spiritual experiences.
• Obtain permission before attributing a participant’s correction or testimony publicly.
• Record unresolved differences accurately.
• Escalate pastoral, safety, legal, or privacy concerns to an appropriate human leader.
