The Spark UnfoldingBook Club

An original illustrated book by Dr. Sherry-Ann Brown

The Scribe
Beside the Flame

Christian Creativity, Artificial Intelligence, and the Work of Discernment

A lived account of inspiration becoming manuscript, the author returning to the page, Scripture receiving reverent examination, and a reading community learning to discern what emerges.

A Black woman author directing luminous blank manuscript pages at an elegant desk

The premise

What becomes possible when a life can speak into a library?

Dr. Sherry-Ann Brown brings the experiences, memories, spiritual insights, professional formation, interpretation, voice, direction, and substantive meaning. AI helps recognize patterns, develop structure, extend narratives, and produce drafts at extraordinary speed. She reads, corrects, removes, restores, and redirects the work until the developing manuscript more faithfully carries what she meant.

The scale of this collaboration opens a new season of authorship. It also opens serious questions. Scripture requires context. Theology requires care. Spiritual testimony requires fidelity. A polished sentence can carry an error with confidence. A large body of work requires an honest record of how it was made, how it was reviewed, and where deeper examination remains welcome.

This book follows the process from the first spoken thought to a reading community gathered around the resulting work. It treats AI as a powerful form of assistance within an actively human, spiritually attentive, and communally accountable creative practice.
